Terms of Service
Effective date: 2026-05-18 · Last updated: 2026-05-18
1. What you're agreeing to
By using StateWatch — visiting the site, subscribing to alerts, or paying for a tier — you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
2. What StateWatch is (and isn't)
StateWatch is an automated regulatory monitoring tool. We poll public legislative data sources, run bills through a language model, and email you summaries.
StateWatch is not a law firm. Our summaries are AI-generated and may contain errors. They are not legal advice. You should not rely on them to make compliance decisions without consulting qualified counsel. We make no warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose.
3. Account and subscription
To receive alerts, you create an account by submitting your email address and confirming it via a link we send. You are responsible for keeping your email address current.
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly by Stripe. You can cancel at any time from Stripe's customer portal (the link is in every receipt). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we don't issue prorated refunds for partial months.
We may change our pricing with at least 30 days' notice to existing subscribers. If you don't agree to a price change, you can cancel before it takes effect.
4. Acceptable use
Don't try to break things. Specifically:
- Don't scrape the dashboard for republication.
- Don't share your account access with people who haven't subscribed.
- Don't try to bypass tier limits.
- Don't send us bulk junk through the contact form.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service.
5. Limitation of liability
Our total liability for any claim arising out of your use of StateWatch is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. For free-tier users, that amount is $0.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including but not limited to lost profits, missed compliance deadlines, regulatory fines, or any decision made on the basis of an inaccurate summary.
6. Termination
You can stop using StateWatch at any time. Unsubscribing from emails marks your account inactive; emailing [email protected] gets your data deleted entirely.
We may discontinue the service with at least 30 days' notice. If we do, we'll refund any paid time you've prepaid for that hasn't been used yet.
7. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we'll email everyone with an active subscription before they take effect. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where StateWatch is registered. Disputes will be resolved in that state's courts.
